Abundius the Sacristan
For the fifth century Italian bishop and saint, see
Abundius.
Saint Abundius the Sacristan (also Abonde) (died ca. 564) was a sacristan of the Church of Saint Peter in Rome. His holy life was reportedly an inspiration to all who knew him. Saint Gregory the Great wrote a story of his life.[1] He is reported as having miraculously healed someone of gout by his prayers.[2]
Veneration
The Roman Martyrology lists Abundius briefly on his feast day,[a] April 14, which is kept as a major feast at Saint Peter's.[3]
